Sanjay Biswas
An independent political scientist dedicated to understanding how power, politics, and society shape human existence. Teaching, researching, and writing at the intersection of governance, conflict, philosophy, and social reality.
Welcome to an Independent Space for Political Thought
I am Sanjay Biswas, an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Barasat K L College, affiliated with West Bengal State University (WBSU) Government. As a two-time UGC-NET qualified educator, researcher, and writer, I have dedicated my professional life to understanding how power, politics, and society shape human existence.
SanjayBism.com was born from a simple realisation: political science is not just an academic discipline. It is the study of how we live together, how we govern ourselves, how we create justice or injustice, and how we navigate conflict and peace in an increasingly complex world.
Politics is not what they tell you it is. Politics is what you see when you learn to look.
Why This Website Exists
I launched www.SanjayBism.com in June 2025 as an independent intellectual platform where ideas can breathe freely beyond the formal constraints of academic institutions. While I deeply value my work as an educator, this website allows me to explore political and social questions with complete intellectual freedom.
Politics is not confined to parliaments and presidential palaces. It exists in every relationship, every institution, every moment of obedience or resistance, and every structure that determines who has power and who does not. This platform exists to examine those realities honestly, critically, and thoughtfully.
What This Website Covers
SanjayBism.com brings together multiple dimensions of political understanding through original, research-based content. Each area reflects a genuine intellectual interest — not a checklist, but a living exploration of how our world actually works.
Political Science & Governance
Comprehensive analyses of Indian politics, democratic institutions, constitutional governance, public administration, and political systems — exploring not just what happens, but why.
International Relations
Geopolitics, diplomacy, international conflicts, global institutions, and foreign policy — connecting classical IR theory with contemporary developments, especially from a Global South perspective.
Conflict Studies & Peace Research
Origins of political conflicts, ethnic tensions, territorial wars — and more importantly, pathways to peace, reconciliation, and the conditions that allow societies to move from violence to dialogue.
War, Peace & Security Studies
From conventional warfare to cyber conflicts, nuclear deterrence to terrorism — analysing the changing nature of security threats and the ethical dimensions of war and peace.
Political Philosophy & Theory
Fundamental questions about legitimacy, justice, and social organisation — from Plato and Aristotle to Marx and Gandhi, connecting timeless philosophy to modern political challenges.
Society & Human Behaviour
Social structures, caste and class dynamics, gender and politics, nationalism, social movements — examining how social behaviours shape political outcomes and vice versa.
Democracy, Inequality & Social Justice
A critical examination of democratic institutions, electoral systems, minority rights, and the gap between constitutional ideals and lived reality — questions of inclusion, exclusion, and meaningful democracy.
Poetry & Reflective Essays
Politics is not only about rationality — it lives in emotions, contradictions, and deeply human experiences. Poetry and reflective essays that explore memory, resistance, identity, and the intimate dimensions of power.
My Approach to Writing
Every article, essay, and poem on SanjayBism.com is independently written and personally researched. I am not affiliated with any political party, ideological organisation, corporate entity, or advocacy group. My academic training informs my perspective, but this platform gives me complete freedom to explore ideas without institutional limitations.
The Principles Behind Every Piece
Research-Based: Every analytical piece is grounded in careful research, evidence, and theoretical frameworks. I cite sources, acknowledge scholarly debates, and present arguments that can be examined and challenged.
Intellectually Honest: I strive to present multiple perspectives on contested issues, acknowledge complexity, and avoid oversimplification for rhetorical effect. My goal is understanding, not propaganda.
Accessible Yet Rigorous: While rooted in academic political science, my writing is intended for educated general readers, not just specialists. I avoid unnecessary jargon while maintaining analytical depth.
Independent and Non-Partisan: I analyse all political actors, ideologies, and movements based on evidence and principles — not party loyalty or ideological conformity.
Core Values of SanjayBism
Independent Thought
Intellectual independence, evidence-based reasoning, and critical analysis over ideological conformity or partisan loyalty.
Research Over Noise
Depth over virality, evidence over opinion, and careful argument over emotional rhetoric. Every piece values substance.
Fairness Over Ideology
Examining political issues as fairly as possible, acknowledging legitimate disagreements and respecting intellectual opponents.
Respectful Disagreement
Democracy requires the ability to disagree profoundly without dehumanising those who think differently from us.

My Academic Background
Beyond this website, I actively fulfil my responsibilities as an Assistant Professor — teaching undergraduate courses in political science, mentoring students, conducting assessments, engaging in institutional governance, and pursuing ongoing research in political science, international relations, and conflict studies.
I approach teaching as more than knowledge transmission. My goal is to help students recognise the political structures, power dynamics, and ideological assumptions that shape their lives — often invisibly and without their conscious consent. Political science education should empower students to question, analyse, and understand the world critically.
The Vision for SanjayBism
This website is an evolving intellectual project. I am building it one article at a time, one essay at a time, one poem at a time — with the intention of creating lasting intellectual value rather than temporary digital noise.
What I Hope This Platform Becomes
A trusted resource for understanding Indian and global politics. A space where political theory illuminates social reality. An archive where complex ideas are explored with patience and care. A platform where academic rigour meets accessible writing. And ultimately — a community of readers who value thoughtful engagement over quick judgments.
My primary aspiration is simple: to encourage readers to think more carefully, critically, and honestly about the political world we inhabit. If this website helps readers pause, question assumptions, and engage with political differences without hatred — it serves its purpose.
